Tufftride QPQ

Tufftride QPQ

After Tufftriding/Nitrocarburising, should the customer require a post-oxidation treatment commonly known as blackening or Oxynit, the parts are quenched into a bath containing oxidizing salts resulting in a corrosion-resistant layer called magnetite (Fe3O4) forming on the surface with its distinctive black color.  A  Tufftriding QPQ process is a further iteration of this process which stands for Quench, Polish, Quench, and requires a polishing procedure after the oxidation process.  It is then placed back in the furnace and subsequently re-quenched into the AB1 (Oxidizing) bath. This unique process creates a much harder, more uniform surface that is extremely wear and corrosion-resistant and the smooth black finish is aesthetically pleasing.
